Drive for Hope - a week of charity

hans_peter_porsche
Dorota, Mr. Hans-Peter Porsche and Chick.

On Saturday, July 3, 2010 was the beginning of a week-long event of over 1,200 Porsche enthusiasts.  The 2010 Porsche Parade was held in St. Charles, Illinois along with a Concourse of Porsches from around the country being judged at this event.  Advocate Children's Hospital was the charity chosen this year for this event.  Chick and Dorota from Pol-Position Racing attended the reception in the DuPage County Airport Main Control Tower, and then attended the huge Welcome Party in the hanger, featuring collectors cars, and airplanes and a live auction and raffle for a 2011 Porsche Cayenne S - all benefiting Hope Children's Hospital.

Two cars shown at the Welcome Party were the 17th Porsche ever built, and an all aluminum body roadster owned and raced in SCCA by the first woman to do so in that venue.  The windshield and bumpers are removable for racing.  These two cars are part of a private collectors inventory in North Carolina.

Chick and Dorota had a honour to meet Mr. Hans-Peter Porsche, heir to the Porsche empire in Germany.  Chick was lucky enough to have his Pol-Position poster signed personally.  On the back he wrote Good Luck, Chick  -  and signed it.  Because it is written in German, Chick hopes that's what it really says......

Advocate Charitable Foundation has partnered with Porsche Club of America (PCA), Porsche Cars North America and Porsche AG to raise funds for Advocate Hope Children’s Hospital.  Pol-Position Racing was in the front of the “parade” of Porsche’s traveling through Oak Lawn on 95th Street ending with a car show and award celebration at Hope Children’s Hospital.

Pol-Position pulled in front of the hospital to give children who could come down, an opportunity to see race cars up close.  Those patient’s who couldn’t come down, were able to look from their windows.

Pol-Position representatives assisted in visiting more than 45 patients with hospital escort and handed out posters, hats, gear of all sorts on behalf of the many sponsors donating these wonderful gifts.  Big thanks to Pirelli for great hats for the kids !

2010 Season is here !

Recently, Pol-Position Team members and other PCA drivers along with hosts - Fischer Motorsports - attended an annual Test&Tune Session organized by Fischer Motorsports.

On April 23rd, 2010 weather at Gingerman Raceway in Michigan was perfect for the first outing of the season. Cloudy skies, temperatures in the low 60's with no rain meant only one thing: our Porsches loved the conditions and so did we. The entire day was spent on driving, testing and preparing for the upcoming racing season. This year Gingerman Raceway is undergoing a significant change in track layout, which should make driving the track even more exciting than before. Under the watchful eye of the new Track Safety Coordinator, Chrissy Glassburn, the entire day was smooth with no incidents and fun for everyone. Pol-Position Team Members : Jack Borys, Peter Dabrowski, Peter Sygieda, Arek Szawlowski and Wally Werner drove their asses off for the entire day. Everyone was able to tune their cars and make any neccessary changes after the winter break.

We sincerely want to thank our hosts - Fischer Motorsports - for making it happen again this year. All of us at Pol-Position are looking forward to a succesful 2010 racing season with the support and dedication of Peter and Rick Fischer.

About the Team

Pol-Position Racing began as a small group of life-long friends sharing the mutual passion for car racing and in particular, Porsche. As their experience grew, so did their vision to form a group of friends all sharing this passion and motivation to formally organize Pol-Position Racing as a cohesive group exhibiting teamwork and respect for one other.

Rounding out the Pol—Position Team are seven other members with varied Club Racing, lnstructing, and Track Event experience. Pole Position means the #1 Position on the track and Pol-Position Racing is striving to achieve this with their members.
