Jack Borys

1985 911 GT 4S class Race Car

Hello, my name is Jack Borys, I have been a member of the Porsche Club of America for the last 7 years. I am also a founding member of Pol-Position racing team. My Journey as a race car driver started when I was very young. I always had a dare-devil side to me that had a need a for speed. My first fast car was an IROC Z 28 after that I owned a Ferrari, but nothing could compare to when I took a Porsche onto the track for the first time, these amazing cars coupled with the great people like Peter Sygieda, John Sikora, Peter Fisher, and countless other Chicago Region PCA members, left me with no choice but to get involved. I took the first turn on that track and knew that my life would never be quite the same again. Since then I have co-founded the race team Pol-Position. It has been an amazing gift to share time with people just as passionate about racing as I am. I have come a long way from the young guy getting pulled over for speeding in a Ferrari, I now race with safety and skill in mind and can't imagine my life without the PCA.

It has been years since I took that first lap in a stock 993 Porsche and I now race a 911 Carrera customized race car, number 013. The car belonged to George Muller, and later to Randy Alexander. Randy then sold this wonderful car to me. Since then Gary Boss and I modified its suspension, tuned the chassis and worked together to lighten the car.

In PCA I passed through Drivers Ed, got my racing license and finally got to experience a real race first hand. I also had the pleasure of experiencing the feeling of winning a race (or maybe more than one). I have to say having champaigne poured on you is fun but later your race suit is very sticky. Currently I am an active racer in GT4s as well as an instructor helping future racers improve and hone their skills.

Overall being a member of Pol-Position has been a wonderful experience and I hope to see you on the race track when the season starts February in Sebring, Florida!

      Car # 474 - 2003 Porsche 996 Twin Turbo

Having grown up as a car enthusiast from childhood and as a teenager during the late 1960’s during the muscle car era, it was only fitting that my interest in racing would grow.  My car in High School was my Step Grandfather’s ’57 Chevy.  I still have a 1970 ½ Camaro Z28, but in my quest to do road course racing, my attention turned to European cars.  First a 2000 Lotus Esprit, next a 1999 Ferrari 550 Maranello, a 2000 Porsche Carrera, and most recently, a 2003 Porsche 911 Twin Turbo with around 650 h.p.

It has been a wild ride the past eight years, as I have gained a lot of track experience and have become a nationally certified driving instructor for the Porsche Club of America.  My passion for this sport is combined with the gratification of making new life long friendships with other racing enthusiasts.  Track events are social events where you mix it up on the track during the day, and share a dinner and a glass of wine with wonderful people making for a great weekend.  My fiancé, Dorota, and I have made many new friends which brought me the opportunity to become a member of Pol-Position Racing.  Dorota is Polish which enhanced our relationship with Jack, Arek, Peter, and Wally as members of Pol-Position. I have become Polish “through association.”

This last October, Pol-Position has an opportunity to appear in a new feature film entitled, Blue Sky.  Our team will be among the lead cars being filmed on the track at Gingerman in South Haven, Michigan.  I will have an opportunity to appear in a cameo role of Neal in the movie.  Hopefully I won’t be left on the cutting room floor………Alright, Access Hollywood, see you on the red carpet???  www.blueskythemovie.com

        Car # 935 - 1987 Porsche 930 Turbo

My name is Peter Sygieda driving car # 935 - ’87 Porsche 911 Turbo. I am married to a beautiful and loving wife Maggie for 17 years. We have a gorgeous daughter Nicole who is 12 y/o. Recently we have adopted a little puppy and named her "Porsche".

I first joined the Porsche Club of America in 1997. My first Porsche was a 1974 914 1.8 L four cylinder two seater. My entire life I was drawn to the Porsche make and dreamed as a kidabout one day owning a Porsche - any Porsche. Well, after the 914, I wanted the classic 911, which for me always was and will be the TURBO. I purchased my 911 Turbo in 1999, and fell in love at first sight. I drove the car for about 2 years and decided that it was time to really experience the power of this 911 on track. I started participating in our local chapter of the PCA and knew that I wanted to do more.

At that point I began my work on the 911.

I gutted the inside and began transformation into a true race car. To this day it’s a work in progress but it is about 95% complete. Pol-Position Racing, was actually the creation of Jack Borys and myself, back in the 2005 season. Both Jack and I knew each other for more then 20 years and both had the passion for Porsches. I talked Jack into buying his 993 about 6 years ago, and ever since he’s shown that he has what it takes to be a true race car driver, winning numerous 1st place wins and trophies from around the country.  In 2009 I decided to begin my racing experience and over the Labor Day weekend I will start in my first PCA Club Race in GT 1S Class. I am very active in the Chicago Region Porsche Club and participate in many Drivers Ed events as well as racing and instructing for the club.

I am fortunate to work at Northstar Motorsports where I get to help fellow enthusiasts in selecting the correct safety and race equipment for their sports cars. I am also a licensed Illinois Realtor

In 2009 my first official Porsche Club race happened at Road America Road Course in Elkhart Lake, WI. I started in GT 1S class with fierce competition coming from various Porsche Cup Cars and Fab Cars. I somehow managed to win in my class.

My name is Waldemar (Wally) Werner and I love Porsches. There is something about a purpose build machine which was designed to work as best possible without compromises in the name of looks.Constant aesthetic and technological evolution of 911 finally arrived at the ultimate form, which in my opinion is the 993. For 25 years I've owned and operated WERNER MACHINE LTD. specializing in rebuilding and performance work on automotive cylinder heads.

Few years back I was approached by Arek ( my long time friend and Pol-Position driver) to work on cylinder heads for his race car which I took as a challenge and opportunity to improve the performance of his engine. With a cooperation with Fischer Motors project became a success. I jumped in my airplane and flew to Road America to see the car perform. I have got hooked instantly and couldn't wait to drive myself.

I sold my airplane, bought 1974 911 project car and turned it in to a GT4S race car with my beloved 993 body kit. It took almost 2 long years. My wife Margie and daughter Monica supported me during the whole process being patient and allowing me to spend countless hours working on my car. Car was completed in August of 2007 and soon I realized that I'm lacking the skills needed to handle a race car. With a help of my my friends and lot of pressure (expectations are high if you have a Pol-Position sticker on your car) I have worked hard to improve my driving techniques and finally started using my car the way it was meant to be driven. In the meantime my performance business became both challenging and gratifying. I have contributed to the success o many drivers landing my professional expertise and workmanship in search of extra horse power.

Together with my family we are very happy to be a part of Pol-Position and cherish the friendships we developed.
